Tips on Better Searching

  • You may search by company name, products, services, keywords or key phrases.
  • Search using English alphabet only.
  • Search entry is not case-sensitive.
  • Check for spelling mistakes.
  • Use singular word as far as possible, for example, enter engine instead of engines, or machinery instead of machineries.
  • Keyword search refers to single-term search, for example, to search for ABC Marine Services, enter ABC as the keyword to search rather than the entire phrase tends to improve your hit rate. Take diesel engine as another example, using engine as keyword may deliver better result.
  • The keyword entered may not be recognised. Try using a different word. Alternatively you may consider using the "Search by category" dropdown list to browse by categories.
  • Key-phrase search refers to multiple-keywords search. Separate each term by spacing rather than comma.
  • Be specific in your search to obtain better results by entering details like the target country and products or services, for example, ABC pump maker Japan, Singapore ABC agency, etc.
  • For search using generic terms like shipping, shipbuilders, crewing agency, etc., you may consider using the "Search by category" dropdown list for a faster and more effective search.
  • When a search returns a large number of possible matches, you may consider searching within this result set by
    • clicking on the country and business type links to narrow down your search;
    • sorting in alphabetical order to drill in;
    • clicking on alternate keyword prompts where available at bottom of the result table to shortcut your search.
  • When searching by company's name returns a large result set, click on the alphabet which you think the name begins with to narrow down your search.
  • Where the legal title of a company such as Pte Ltd, Pvt Ltd, Co Ltd, PT, Inc, Corp, etc. is uncertain, it may be better to leave it out, e.g. search using ABC Shipping Services can give better result than using ABC Shipping Services Private Limited. Note that these titles are captured in the database in abbreviated format without punctuation.
